Job Description

*Line Cook Position*

We are looking for a qualified professional line cook at our bustling little cafe, 4-5 days a week.

About us: We serve brunch & lunch from 8am-4pm, 7 days a week. Our setup is atypical: we have 3 burners, a sandwich grill, and 2 toaster ovens. Generally, the line cook works the “line” solo. Our menu is posted on our website and we encourage any candidates to take a look at what we offer. We make just about everything from scratch, and our space is limited so we are often prepping day to day. Good knife skills, food knowledge, ability to follow recipes, and passion for good food are required.

About you: We are looking for someone with at least 1-2 years of cooking experience in a restaurant setting.
Professional qualities must include: know how to cook an egg!!, organization, multi-tasking, speed, quality control, eye for detail, great people skills, creativity, ability to think on your feet, exercise good judgement and common sense, ability to take direction, and be a team player – in the sense that you are aware of your responsibilities and how it affects others.
Personality: We are looking for someone with a good sense of humor – cynics and sarcasm are welcome. We are also looking for someone who has a strong work ethic, who can take pride in their work, their product, their service, appearance, decorum, themselves. We want a person who can roll with the punches, has a lot of stamina and patience, and can manage stressful situations with grace and brevity. If you’ve been on the line for 4 hours straight with no end in sight, we want someone who can still crack a joke and have some fun – while keeping the end goal in mind.

Pay: DOE (+tips – $30-$90/day) + paid vacation

*Prep Cook/Dishwasher*

We are also looking for a Prep Cook/Dishwasher. This is a PT position, 3-4 days a week.

This position is going to be Friday-Monday, about 5-6hrs a shift. Sat/Sun will be mostly dishwashing and maintaining the cafe space, with some food prep. Friday and Monday will be more food prep heavy, as we prepare and recover from the weekend.

About you: This is an entry level support position, but at least 1 year of experience in a prep cook position is preferred. There is room for growth in this position, for the right person. Basic knife skills, cooking methods, and ability to follow a recipe are required. Same qualities apply as the line cook position – keep it fun.
Expectations for this position – support the production goals of the kitchen, follow direction, and meet goals, while keeping the space nice and neat.
Pay: DOE +tips/meal + paid vacation
