Abernethy Center is an Award Winning Wedding Venue located in Oregon City. We have been awarded Oregon Bride’s Magazine Best All Inclusive Wedding Venue for three consecutive years. We are a full service event destination that included both indoor and outdoor venues.
We are currently looking to add to our already Awarding Winning Team for our upcoming wedding season. This position is a great fit for anyone who has a passion for the hospitality industry and enjoys providing a high standard of service and quality for our guests. We are 100% drug free work environment that is highly organized and professional. We are looking for people who value working in this type of setting.
The nature of our work is primarily weekends. Great for people who are in school, hold day jobs, weekdays or Nine to fivers.
Event and Production Cook
Part-time: $12-19 per hour
Work Location: Abernethy Center 606 15th Street Oregon City
The best qualified candidate will have proven experience in casual or fine dining restaurants. Catering/Banquet experience is a preferred but not necessary to be considered for the position. Candidate must demonstrated skills in the kitchen that will not compromise quality of food or service. While maintaining the Abernethy Center’s high standards and commitment to our guest yet while being achieved in a sometimes limited time period.
Produce and assemble food from appetizers to entrées. Assemble or prepare food on site and transport to other locations on our venue. You need strong knife skills and an eye for detail. You may be asked to work directly with the guest at action or carving stations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
*Read BEO and Kitchen Prep Sheet
*Must have good knife skills
*Perform all guest contact in a cordial, efficient and professional manner
**Know and comply with Oregon Food Handlers regulations
*Complete assigned work to the standards of the Executive & Sous Chef
*Able to work flexible shifts to consist of mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays
*Attend all departmental meetings in person in order to enhance communications and gain knowledge of products, services and facility
*Presents a clean and professional appearance at all times
*Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor and works well with other staff
*Performs other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management
*Lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs
*Bending/kneeling: Ability to bend to lower level cabinets or shelves
*Mobility: Maneuver in narrow areas
*Continuous standing required to service guests functions; 100% of the time scheduled
*Must have ability to perform multiple tasks at one time, follow verbal, written instruction and follow recipes
*Must be highly organized and able to pay attention to details
*Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of co-workers and management and guests.
*Ability to read, speak and write English
*Ability to use kitchen equipment
*Must be 21 years of age or older
*Possess a high energy with a can do attitude
*Minimum of 3 years cooking experience
*Operational knowledge of equipment including but not limited to blender, ovens, fryers, dishwasher, grills and soup kettles
*Willingness and availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
*Obtain or hold a current Oregon Food Handlers Card
* Be a self starter and able to work with little supervision in some cases
* Ability to work in a busy and or sometimes stressful situations
* Have a valid driver’s license
